Jada Says She Had An Instant Connection With Tom Cruise

In her new memoir Worthy, Jada explains that she connected with Tom shortly after meeting and they developed a friendship that transcended the film set. “Early in our friendship, Tom and I found out we shared a love of motorcycles, and I was super excited when we made a plan to ride on his dirt-bike track,” she explained.

“Enjoying the ride, I had no qualms about trying to jump off a small ramp, only to feel the thrill of catching air,” Jada, 52, went on. “The problem was that after going up, the bike and I descended rapidly to the ground, and I couldn’t manage to land the bike.”

Tom Cruise has been in the acting game since the early 1980s. He's made his mark in the industry countless times, but these are his biggest movies.

Jada shared the screen with Cruise as well as Jamie Foxx in the critically acclaimed 2004 film Collateral, directed by the renowned filmmaker Michael Mann.

Continuing in her memoir, Jada reflected on how concerned Tom was when she got injured while stunting on the motorcycle. “As soon as I hit the ground, I was thrown from the bike and landed on my back, hitting my head hard. Thank God I had on a helmet.”

“Relieved but concerned, Tom let me know I’d done some good riding but that I should stop for the day,” she explained, adding that she was the one who insisted they keep trying.

“I was scared as hell to get back on that bike,” Jada continued. “But the lesson was — it’s not about NOT being scared when you need to move past fear. It’s about finding the courage to freaking do it anyway, even if you don’t think you can.”

“Finding the courage is easier when someone has confidence in you — like Tom with me getting back on the bike,” the mom-of-two added.

Tom Is Known For Helping Fellow Actors With Stunts

Jada declined to reveal if things with Tom Cruise ever took a romantic turn for her, but what’s clear is that the two remain on good terms today, even if they’re not as close as they once were.

Jada isn’t the only celebrity to recently credit Tom for helping them improve their stunting. Timothee Chalamet recently said Tom sent him an email after seeing Dune with a list of contacts for industry professionals who could help him improve his stunts.

“After I met Tom Cruise, right after finishing the first Dune, he sent me the most wonderfully inspiring email,” Timothee told GQ. “He basically said, in Old Hollywood, you would be getting dance training and fight training, and nobody is going to hold you to that standard today. So, it’s up to you. The email was really like a war cry.”

Tom hasn’t publicly responded to Jada or Timothee’s recent admissions.
