Julia Fox gained a lot of traction for her high-profile yet short-lived relationship with Kanye West in 2022, shortly after Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from the rapper. But even though the actress got a lot of attention, don’t expect her to divulge many details in her upcoming memoir.
As she graced the red carpet at the Victoria's Secret World Tour 2023 event in New York on Wednesday evening, Julia took a moment to chat with E! News about her forthcoming book, titled "Down the Drain."
When questioned about whether the memoir would delve into any aspects of her whirlwind relationship with Kanye, the 33-year-old Uncut Gems actress mentioned that she wouldn't be going into extensive details about their romance.
"It's like six pages," she said, explaining her mentions of Ye are limited to only a small section of the book. "I feel like I went very lightly on it. I'm not trying to have bad blood or anything, it's all in the past."
Julia Broke Up With Kanye Because She Saw “Red Flags”
Julia may give more context as to why she decided to end their romance after only a few short months, something she’s already touched on briefly in past interviews.
In September 2022, the actress explained that she broke things off at the first sign of trouble, and she says she’s proud of that decision, given the controversy Kanye caused later in the year after their February 2022 break-up (which included antisemitic and anti-Black comments).
"The unresolved issues that he was dealing with," she told ES Magazine. "It just seems like he had a lot to work on, and I just don't have time for it, or energy. I don't have the bandwidth or emotional capacity for it. I'm proud of myself for that. Pre-Valentino Julia would have definitely stuck it out and been there for longer."
Julia Admits That Kanye’s Reputation Has Hurt Her Career
Though Kanye and Julia’s attention brought her a lot of notoriety in a short time, the actress doesn’t believe the notoriety has done well for her career, given Ye’s reputation.
In November 2022, she mentioned this during her appearance on Emily Ratajkowski's podcast, "High Low with EmRata” that it became harder to book acting gigs, as she believes professionals in the industry didn’t take her as seriously. "After this whole big relationship and all the things that followed, I definitely felt like, oh I feel a shift in like the acting way, not in a good way," Julia explained.
"It's like I'm not getting as many offers as I was before, weirdly," the actress continued, saying she was perceived as a "liability, just tabloid type of person.”
“Before [I dated Kanye West] I was really typecasted as a pervy Italian girl and now I'm just like skinny and look sickly and it's like, I don't know,” Julia went on. "It's fine, I'm so busy. I think things come to you at the right time, so that's why I'm really not stressing. I really don't care."
Kanye is now in a relationship with Bianca Censori, whom he married in a non-legally binding ceremony in January. The couple have been causing controversy abroad with their NSFW outfits and behavior, something Julia seems happy to have avoided.
